LESSONS
We
have Group lessons to suit all dogs from as young as 10 weeks old
for our Puppy Socialising program right through to adult dogs with
minor behaviour problems.
The classes start at the beginner’s level working up to the
Intermediate and Advanced Obedience levels.
Emphasis will be placed on relationship development and it is
important that all capable members of the family be involved.
For
those whose dogs have severe
behavioural problems, one on one consultation in your own home is
advised. Please see the “House calls” Training Solution.
Weekly lessons with you and your dog are given on a graduated basis, over the 6 weeks. It is expected and very necessary that you commit to your homework and make training a way of life.
A booklet is included, giving a description of weekly
lessons, homework, guidelines, journal and a problem / comment
section.
The course starts with an introductory lesson to demonstrate,
prepare and discuss aspects of canine
behaviour
and training that will influence your training ability and
relationship with your dog.
It is important that the family choose a member who will accept the
role as pack leader and who will be dedicated to the task.
We do not discourage children from participating in the group
lessons but please be aware, not all children are capable of
training dogs let alone in a distractive environment where they are
put on the spot with their parents watching.
If your wish is for your child to receive tuition, discuss
this with us as maybe private tuition may be the answer.

What
to expect from the Lessons.
Maybe I should start with not what to expect! I do not allow excessive
play, free for all, dominance fights and don't have a tea party type
setup although I have no objection to you bringing a cup of tea and
watching the next group going through there paces.
The reason being that at this age it may all look fine with puppies
dominating and fighting and sorting themselves out.
Not much damage can take place, but what happens when the puppy
starts to mature and no longer wants to be dominated.
It develops a “I’ll get you before you get me” attitude and all
of a sudden that cute little puppy that was so good in puppy socialising
turns into a monster and needs some serious behaviour modification.
Socialising is very important, but I teach it constructively
and aim for positive interaction only.
You are joining my lessons to learn about your dog, its behaviour
and develop a training routine at home that works. I
will run disciplined, constructive, balanced lessons with the necessary
training manuals and back-up service.
I will ensure that you don't waste money on a wishy - washy training
session.
What I expect from you.
I
will expect your DEDICATION, an OPEN MIND and COMMITMENT to the
process. You will be
allocating 8 lessons to develop your puppies foundational behaviours
and it would be a total waste if you only attended half of the
lessons. Missing the
odd lesson is fine but you will be expected to catch up the next
week. I will expect you
to commit to the lessons and ensure your homework is done daily.
I will expect you to get your whole family on the same page
as far as rules, boundaries and training go.
